Having graduated from Durham University this summer with First Class Honours in Classics, I am now studying the LMM Law Conversion with SQE 1 at BPP University, with the ambition to become a commercial solicitor.

Alongside these corporate aspirations though, I also have a passion for travel and journalism, hence why I set up this website to combine the two. This blog, therefore, is designed to help hone my writing skills and build up a portfolio of articles that will hopefully be interesting, informative and entertaining.

The Grand Detour is a melting pot of travel features and guides, hotel reviews and cultural commentaries and from around the world as I aim to shed a light on wonderful hotels, people and places. I aim to publish here as often as possible but essentially there is no structure or method to what you will see.
